Virginia Stowe Mynock Obituary

Virginia Stowe Mynock, age 102, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2026, in Oroville, California.

She was born on May 23, 1923, in Harpursville, New York, and spent her childhood growing up on her parents’ egg farm in New York State, where she learned the values of hard work, resilience, and community that would guide her throughout her life.

Virginia married her first husband, Ed Wilske, in 1943 in Elton, Maryland. Their time together was cut short by his passing in 1950. In 1951, she married William Mynock in Reno, Nevada, with whom she shared many years until his death in 1974.

Following William’s passing, Virginia moved to Oroville, California, where she made her home with her brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Harriet Marten. There, she built a life rooted in family, faith, and service.

Virginia was well known in her community for her warm and welcoming spirit. She worked as a Walmart greeter for 25 years, becoming a familiar and beloved face to countless customers. In recognition of her dedication, she was honored at the opening of the Walmart Supercenter, where she had the distinction of cutting the ceremonial ribbon.

A woman of deep faith, Virginia attended Foothill Blvd Church of Christ in Oroville, where she found fellowship and strength.

She will be remembered for her kindness, her enduring strength, and the genuine joy she brought to others. Her long life was a testament to perseverance, love, and service.

Virginia is survived by her family: Mark (Sue), Matt (Afaf), Luke (Lia), John (Jennifer) and her adopted family Georgia, Eric (Cindy), Clarissa (Bill).
