Life and Legacy

Robert (Bob) Newmiller was born on April 6, 1945 in Syracuse, New York as second son to Clyde Erwin Newmiller, Sr. and Margaret Newmiller. He spent his early years in Upstate New York, but in middle school moved with his family to Austin, Texas, where he eventually graduated from high school, and attended University of Texas at Austin in Mechanical Engineering for several years before moving to California in 1970. He worked as a health food educator, home remodeler, mechanic, millwright, forester, and property caretaker.  He loved spending time at the sea, the desert, and in the forest.

Robert is survived by his spouse Emily Thompson, children Jeffrey (and Jeanette) Newmiller, Zain Newmiller, Janet Newmiller, Rita Newmiller (and John Gomez), Kirk Newmiller (and Rocque), and their mother Martha Newmiller. Grandchildren include Cordell Newmiller, Robin Newmiller, Joseph Avery Newmiller, Alex Freeman, and William Robert Gomez.

He was preceded in death by his brother Clyde Erwin Newmiller Jr.
