Alfred Ralston Maurer was born August 16, 1954 in Chicago, Illinois to Siegfried and Ruth Maurer. Al passed away February 7, 2026 in Chico, California. First and foremost he loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and had a passion for introducing others to Him. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, Julie, and especially loved their biblical studies tours of Israel, Greece and Turkey. He loved his church family and served as a Deacon at Evangelical Free Church of Oroville and was instrumental in starting a Celebrate Recovery program there. He helped start Saturday men’s breakfasts in churches throughout Oroville and worked with Ambassadors of Reconciliation Ministries to bring the gospel message to those who are incarcerated. He served on the Board of Directors for West Coast Honor Camp.
Alfred is survived by his wife, Julie Maurer; his children: Blake Maurer (Malli) of Renton, WA, Brett Maurer (Hannah) of West Seattle, WA, Sabrina Buis (Derrald) of Oroville, CA, Zachary Johnston of Oroville, CA, Carrie Johnston (Doug) of Portland, OR and Casey Johnston (Neri) of Ventura, CA; his sisters: Nancy, Laura, and Shannon and his grandchildren: Amelia, Gabriel, Leo, Noah, Jacob, Elijah and Benjamin.
Alfred was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Siegfried Maurer, and first wife CynDee.
He will be inurned March 13, 2026 at 11:30 AM at the Memorial Park Cemetery, 5670 Lincoln Blvd, Oroville, CA 95966.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, March 14, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Evangelical Free Church, 3785 Olive Hwy, Oroville, CA 95966. Breakfast will follow in the fellowship hall.
