David Marlin Hansen Obituary

David Hansen age 66 passed 1/24/2026.

David Marlin Hansen (Daveed Brosh) was born on April 3, 1956, in Sacramento, California, to Margaret Pearl Hansen (Fries) and Marlin Guy Hansen. He was the second child of Margaret and Marlin.

David spent much of his childhood moving throughout the United States due to his father’s engineering career. Although the family lived in many places—including California, Utah, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Tennessee, Washington, and several other states—Montana always held a special place in his heart. He spent many formative years there, either living with his family or visiting his maternal grandparents in White Sulphur Springs.

When David was ten years old, the family lived off grid in California. He later joked that this experience convinced him he was not a camper—he was a person who firmly believed in indoor plumbing.

In August 1973, the family moved to Israel. David later joined the Israeli Air Force, serving as a driver, and afterward completed a mission in England for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

After his time in England, David returned to the United States. He lived primarily in Colorado. He married twice, and divorced twice. He had a deep love for dogs and raised several breeds, including the Canaan dog. He also served as a dog show judge. His cousin Natali has fond memories of this time.

David often visited his sister Yvonne in Montana and eventually moved there himself. He worked in insulation, but his favorite job was at a local goat dairy, where he discovered fiber arts and learned to spin and weave.

A few years later, he moved to Salina, Utah, where he worked on a dairy farm for many years. In 1996, David returned to Israel, where he helped his mother in the garden, raised chickens with his parents, and served for many years as a caregiver to a local disabled boy.

David had a lifelong curiosity and a passion for learning. His interests included religions and languages including Hebrew and he even studied Armenian in Jerusalem and later lived in Armenia for a time.

After returning once more to the United States, David became an Ayurvedic practitioner. He operated a small café and food truck, where he shared Ayurvedic food and drinks with his community.

Later, David met his dear friend Maryella, and he lived on her farm for the last two decades of his life. He was surrounded by animals —pigs, chickens, goats, and more —but his favorites were the livestock guardian dogs. David frequently shared glimpses of his farm life on Facebook, posting about his animals, his art, and whatever he happened to be cooking that day.

David was endlessly curious and loved to learn. He was a creator who enjoyed working with his hands. His many interests included painting, mixed media art, cooking, fiber crafts, making his own paper and caring for animals. He passed away on January 24, 2026, just a few months before his 70th birthday. David was especially close to friend Maryella, his mother Margaret, his niece Felicia, and his cousin Nadine.

He was preceded in death by all of his grandparents; his parents, Marlin and Margaret; and his siblings, Yvonne and Michael. He is survived by his brothers Paul and Mark, as well as many nieces and nephews.

A service will be held at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Oroville Funeral Home (530)533-0323.
