Rodney LeRoy Kennedy Friends and family are mourning the passing of Rodney LeRoy Kennedy, who died peacefully in Oroville, California, on November 7, 2025, at the age of 62. He was born August 3, 1963, in Plumas County, California.

Rodney was a proud graduate of the Berkeley School for the Deaf. He truly loved learning and thrived as he worked on continuing his education at Feather River Junior College, Butte College, and Chico State. He was always so curious and loved the college environment.

If you knew Rodney, you knew his happy place was the pool table. He loved spending time at Piggs’ Club in Oroville, whether it was a casual game or a local or regional tournament. Rodney’s joy was contagious, and his time playing billiards was passionate (sometimes heated) but always filled with his big laughs. Rodney loved being around people and although speech was a challenge he much preferred to speak rather than sign from the time he was very young.

Rodney studied landscape design for years and enjoyed helping friends and family by creating lovely gardens or cleaning up the yards of people he loved. He was always available to help out whether it was cutting down a tree or building a fish pond.

Some of Rodney’s most treasured moments were spent with his cousins, family, and lifelong friends at Bucks Lake. At Bucks he loved fishing, boating and campfire evenings filled with stories, laughter, and the kind of togetherness that stays with you long after the campfires go out.

Throughout his life, Rodney’s friendships became family. Sometimes he would meet a total stranger that would help him with a random act of kindness and would ultimately become a lifelong friend. From Quincy, Portola, Chico, Sacramento, and Oroville, Rodney built deep bonds with people who loved him dearly. He also loved keeping in touch through social media, and he never missed sending holiday and birthday good wishes, often in emoji-filled texts that felt like a little burst of Rodney’s cheerful spirit and love.

Rodney will be remembered for his big heart, his constant smile, and the gentle kindness he carried into everyday life. Rodney will be deeply missed, and lovingly remembered, by all who knew him
