Larry "Dean" Rice, 88, or Oroville, CA, passed peacefully on Saturday, November 1, 2025 in Oroville, CA.

After graduating from Oroville High School in 1955, Dean served in the National Guard and soon found employment with PG&E and retired at 55 years old as a lineman.

Dean immensely enjoyed sharing his long retirement with his wife, Joyce, as camp hosts during summers in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. Dean was very active during his life, coaching youth sports, boating on Lake Oroville, Butte County Sheriff's Posse, Oroville Pageant Riders, Paradise Bowling Association, and the Elks and Moose clubs. Dean especially enjoyed his reacquaintance of high school classmates, Pastor Ron Finch, and newfound friends at Grace Chapel of Oroville, during the last 6 months of his life.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Cora Rice, and his lovely wife, Joyce, who he immensely missed since her passing in 2023.

Dean is survived by his brother, Jerry Rice, and his nephews and nieces.

He is also survived by his children, Linda Eslick, Sheri Gaebe, Jim Rice, and Brad Rice; grandchildren, Curtis Rice, Sahsha Kochanowicz, Morgan Eslick, KJ Eslick, Jeremy Anaya, Steven Anaya, John Anaya, Kaycee Bowen, Eric Rice, Danny Rice, Kristen Gaebe, and 26 great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Palermo Grange, 7600 Irwin Ave, Palermo, CA , Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 1 pm. Refreshments will be served and Dean's family welcomes sharing of stories and memories.
