Mark Steven MacKenzie
May 16, 1957 – July 8, 2025
Mark Steven MacKenzie, a lifelong resident of Butte County, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2025, at the age of 68.
Born in Chico, California, Mark spent most of his life in Oroville. He was a dedicated meat cutter at Raley’s for 30 years, where he was known for his strong work ethic and reliability. But Mark’s heart was always with his community—his greatest passion was serving as a volunteer firefighter, where he spent countless hours helping others and building lifelong bonds.
Mark was an avid outdoorsman who found joy in hunting, fishing, camping, and scuba diving. He cherished time spent in nature and passed that love on to his family. Above all else, in his later years, Mark’s greatest joy was being “Papa” to his beloved granddaughter, Payton. His bond with her brought him endless happiness and pride.
Mark was preceded in death by his loving wife, Katie MacKenzie, in 2019. He is survived by his two daughters, Jennie MacKenzie and Sara MacKenzie, his granddaughter, Payton Vaughan, his brother Matt MacKenzie and sister in law Paula Rachuy. He will be remembered as a devoted father, proud grandfather, and a generous man who gave his time and heart to those around him.
His presence, humor, and strength will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A celebration of life will be held on August 9th, from 1pm-4pm at the F.O.E 196 Eagles Hall at 2010 Montgomery St. Oroville, Ca.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Ramsey Funeral Home 530-534-3877
