Donald Powell, 53, passed away June 24, 2025.

It is with great sorrow and sadness that we announce the passing of Donald Joseph Powell, 53, of Oroville, California, on June 24,2025, after a very short illness, with loved ones by his side. He is missed dearly, and survived by his wife Rae Michele Powell, Beverly Powell (Mother), Barbra Ripply (Aunt) , Martha Fisher (Aunt), several cousins, and many, many friends and acquaintances, including his three childhood best friends Brandon Dillinger, Rick Hahn, and Mike Ross. 

Don was incredibly proud to have served in the U.S. Navy, aboard the USS Monakea, and the USS Cape St. Geroge. Don was constantly meeting other fellow veterans, always making sure they were aware of the benefits and resources available to them, and would offer his time to help them complete the necessary paperwork to file. 

Don was a member of the Operating Engineer's Union, where he worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator, 2nd step apprentice for Knife River Construction. Don also held a position with Caltrans during the winter months, he worked on the Snow Removal Team, to help keep the highways open during snow season.

Don always "Said what he meant and meant what he said.''

Don was able to make many of his dreams become a reality over the last several years, and exceeded many of the goals he had set to accomplish, both personally and professionally. Don lived life to the fullest, and loved spending time with his family, friends, and beloved cats, Pebbles, Cowboy, Soni, Sami, Kleo, Sadie, and Harley. He was a dedicated member of the Masonic Lodge, and loved his Masonic brothers. Don enjoyed his dream home above the lake with his wife, Rae, his mother, Bev, and his cat family. He loved the water, swimming, fishing, and heavy metal music. 

Don Joseph Powell was an exceptional man, a beautiful soul, and an overall awesome human being. He will be missed greatly, and never forgotten. A Celebration of life to honor Don will be held at a later date, details to follow.
