Obituary of Gladys Marie Beranek-Rogers

Her Legacy… Gladys Rogers was born March 30, 1919, in Mt. Pleasant, Pennsylvania to Joseph T. Beranek and Mary E. (Cechura) Beranek, and died at age 98 on November 8, 2017 in Iris Care Home in Oroville, California.  She was married for 23 years to Joseph Bevan Rogers.  Gladys and Joseph moved to Tuscon, Arizona and then to the  Henderson/Las Vegas, Nevada area at the end of World War II.  Eventually, her family moved to the Pasadena/Sierra Madre area of Southern California in 1956 where she lived for 60 years until 2016.  Gladys worked as a registered nurse [RN] for 40 years in hospitals in Pittsburgh, PA., Henderson/Las Vegas, Nevada, and  Pasadena, Altadena, and Duarte, California.  Gladys was a long time member of Pasadena First Church of the Nazarene.  Oroville has been her home for the last two years.  Gladys will be remembered for her dedication to her family, her friends, her church family and her profession, as well as for her sense of humor, friendly demeanor, and giving heart.  She enjoyed making friends, taking care of people and pets, singing and playing the piano, watching baseball and playing bingo.

Her Family… Gladys is survived by one daughter, Susan Redfern, and one son Michael Rogers; her 6 grandchildren, Marlene Rogers, Angelyn Lowe, Meredith Quin-Harkin, Alison Taylor, Michael Rogers, Jr., and Brian Redfern; and four great grandchildren, Elijah Lechman, Dylan Taylor, and Brooklyn and Wyatt Rogers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Bevan Rogers, her brothers Edward and Joseph Beranek and her sisters Ruth Dassdorf and Elsie Brown.  

Her Farewell Service… A Celebration of Life gathering for the immediate family will be Sunday, November 19, 2017, at Oroville Church of the Nazarene.  Gladys will be laid to rest during a private burial Tuesday, November 14 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Oroville. Arrangements entrustred to Ramsey Funeral Home.
