Barbara Jorgensen

Obituary of Barbara Eleanor Jorgensen

Her Legacy…Barbara was born to Richard and Eleanor Haislet, Jr. on July 1, 1929 in Evanston, IL.  She lived most of her life in Park Ridge, IL.  She was raised by her grandmother, Catherine Haislet.  She loved and played sports: basketball (boy’s rules!) and baseball (she was a catcher) with her best friend, Marilyn Jorgensen (later to become her sister-in-law).  She was a lifelong Cubbies, SF Giants, and Notre Dame fan.   She and Willard Jorgensen married on May 5, 1951 and lived in Mundelein, IL for 49 years.  They were inseparable.  Sports was their life.  She was an executive payroll accountant and retired in 1988.  She cared for Willard until he passed in 2001.  She moved to Oroville, CA to be closer to her daughter, Judy and family with whom she lived until her passing.  She cared for her son, Ted, for nine months until his passing in 2006.   She loved music, puzzles, attended St. Paul’s and even sang with the church choir.  She lived 88 glorious years and everyone loved her.

Her Family…Barbara is survived by her daughter Judy Campbell (Mark) of Oroville, CA, son, Richard Jorgensen, Alabama; sister-in-law Marilyn Jorgensen, Dayton, OH.  Grandson, Kevin S. Campbell and granddaughter, Marie K. Campbell (Tim) and great-granddaughter, Emmarie Grace, all of Oroville, CA.  She is also survived by family friend, Jamie Peer, and grand-dog, Heidi.  She will be missed by many in the community.

Her Farewell Service…A celebration of Barbara’s life will be held Saturday, October 28 at 1:00 PM at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 1430 Pine Street, Oroville, CA.  She will be laid to rest with her husband and her son at Memorial Park Cemetery, Oroville, CA at a later date.
