Obituary of Esther Cruz De La Torre

Esther Cruz De La Torre passed away peacefully on August 29, 2017.

Born on May 7, 1923 in San Antonio De Padua, Zacatecas, Mexico. She married her late husband Juan De La Torre Sr. on August 18, 1941 and founded Casa Lupe, Inc. in 1968.

Esther is survived by her nine children: Pedro, Petra, Onesimo, Juan Jr., Jose, Valentina, Lupe, Luz, Mariano and her daughter-in-law Raquel De La Torre. In addition, she has over 30 surviving grandchildren.

Nothing made her happier than spending time with family over a home cooked meal. She was a woman of strong faith and never lost hope.

A Rosary is scheduled for Monday, September 4, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1560 Hazel Street, Gridley.

A Memorial Service is scheduled for Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at 10 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A Graveside Service will follow at the Gridley Biggs Cemetery, 2023 Highway 99, Gridley.

Esther’s family requests that in lieu of flowers, people wishing to honor her life and memory can make donations to Gridley Orchard Hospital, 240 Spruce Street, Gridley, CA 95948.
