Obituary of Betty Jo Braun

Her Legacy… Betty Jo Braun on July 13, 2017 ascended into heaven to be with her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ. Betty was born in Clovis, NM and grew up in Portalis, NM. The 3rd of 6 children born to Ernest & Ruby Clark. Betty moved to Arvin, CA in 1950 & married Lorn Best on April 4, 1952. They had two children Martin Best and Lorna Butler, both born in Bakersfield, CA. The family moved to the San Jose area in 1960. There she first worked for Alexian Brothers Hospital, from there she went to work for the State of California Employment Development Department, which she later retired from in Oroville where she had moved to in 1970 with her two children & second husband Bill Braun. In 1977 Betty & Bill started Braun’s Auto Service which still serves the community today. In 1980 they purchased Brower’s 25hr Towing where they worked together until Bill passed away in 1987. She sold the business to her daughter Lorna & her husband Ken. She later got licensed to sell Real Estate which she did in the Oroville area. Betty retired again. She then spent time traveling with family & friends. One of her great joys was spoiling her four grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Betty was a member of the Oroville Evangelical Free Church for over 30 years. Being active in the deacons ministry and was the church’s Walk For Life coordinator for many years.

Her Family… Betty is preceded in death by her parents Ernest & Ruby Clark, 2 brothers Wayne & Ernest Clark & sister Bobbi Woods. Betty is survived by her older sister Maxine Parker of Bakersfield, and  her brother Bill Clark of Fresno, her children Martin Best and Lorna Butler, 4 grandchildren Stephanie McNabb, Chad Butler, Katie Pitroff, Daniel Best, 11 great grandchildren, Taylor, Marilynne, O’Riley & Mason McNabb, Ethan, Ayla & Lorn Pitroff, Ember & Briar Best & Mia & Sydney Butler.

Her Farewell Service… A Celebration of Betty’s life will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at 10:00 AM at the Evangelical Free Church, 3785 Olive highway. Betty will be laid to rest at Memorial Park Cemetery on Lincoln Blvd. Oroville. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Caring for Women Pregnancy Center, Betty’s favorite community ministry. Arrangements entrusted to Ramsey Funeral Home 530-534-3877.
