Obituary of Esperanza Morfin
Esperanza Morfin, 82, passed away May 22nd at 8:50 PM at the Oroville Hospital in Oroville, CA, following a prolonged illness.
She was preceded in death by her husband Miguel Morfin, and her son Jorge Morfin. She is survived by her children; Miguel Angel, Rafael, Francisco Javier, Sonia, Gabriel and Alberto; eighteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and many close friends.
Born in Coalcoman, Michoacan, Mexico, she was the daughter of Sofia Mendoza and Ignacio Barreto.
Esperanza lived the first half of her life in Coalcoman raising her children and providing a stable home environment for her family. In the mid-1960’s, she moved to California as a migrant farm worker with her family, and eventually settled in Gridley, California. She was a loving mother and grandmother. She was most happy when she was surrounded by her family.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday May 30, 2017 at the Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel from 5-8 PM, followed by the Rosary until 9 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday May 31, 2017 at 11 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
