Alma Hodson

Obituary of Alma Roth Hodson

Her Legacy… Born April 28, 1918 in Warden, Washington to Wilhelm and Alwina Roth, Alma Roth Hodson died August 23, 2016 in Oroville, aged 98. She married her first love, Eugene "Gene" Calvin Hodson, in 1936. They shared 58 years together before his passing in 1994. Alma's father died in the influenza pandemic when she was a baby. She lived in Warden with her mother and two older sisters, Emma and Edna, until she married Gene and began their family in Pasco. They moved to Oroville in 1958, where Alma worked in retail. Alma later accompanied Gene to Vietnam, Algeria, and Suriname while he worked on various construction projects. They returned to Oroville in 1982. Devout and faithful, Alma immersed herself in the Calvary Lutheran Church community through choir, bible study, sewing circles, and fund raisers. She also loved cross stitch and enjoyed the company of family and friends, acting as unofficial taxi driver for both. Regular Monday night dinners and the appeal "Better eat!" ensured the wider family stayed well-fed. Alma will be remembered for her politeness, steadfastness, and loyalty to family and church. Her Family… Alma is survived by her son, Keith Hodson of Rancho Cordova; daughter, Kaye Wilson of Oroville; two grandchildren, Jessie Wilson of Wellington and Kelsey Wilson of Portland; and great-grandchild, Quinn Tuohy of Wellington. Her Farewell Visitation… A will be held at Oroville Funeral Home, 1454 Montgomery St. in Oroville on Friday, September 9, 2016 from 1:00 pm to 4:00.
