Obituary of Quincy Doyl Sampson

Quincy Doyl Sampson passed away on December 22, 2020 in Oroville, California. Quincy Doyle Sampson, was born in Arcadia Louisiana, on June 20th 1933. The ninth of 12 children born to Albert and Fathra Sampson. He was nurtured in a loving Christian home, with lots of harmonic singing. Quincy attended school briefly but discontinued his education to help his Dad on the farm, until he left home at age 17 for Hurlong California. Quincy also resided in both Richmond and Vallejo California before migrating to Denver Colorado. During his time in Colorado, Quincy was blessed with the arrival of his daughter Regina Sampson. In Colorado, Quincy then met and married Patsy Ruth Sampson in 1959. To this union was born one daughter Daphne Sampson, who died in infancy, and two sons DeMarco Sampson, and Derek Sampson. He made sure his children knew the Lord. The family moved to Oakland California in 1967, to be near Quincy's parents and siblings. Quincy worked for Paco Pumps, until retiring in 1992. Quincy was a hard worker and would often work a second job to create a life of comfort for his family. Quincy was also an avid outdoors-man. Camping, fishing, baseball, golfing, bowling, playing the guitar and writing country songs. He loved checkers, dominoes, puzzles, cards, pool and many engaging games. Quincy was also the ultimate BBQ Grill Master! Sadly, Patsy passed away November 12th 1989. In 1991 Quincy fell in love and married Anna Harris and was blessed yet another daughter Kim Harris. Dad was famous for giving out nicknames, mom was called his tweety-bird. I don't think Mom knew what she had gotten herself into, as she was a city girl! In 1995 they moved from the city of Oakland California to the small country town of Oroville, California. The country life brought plenty of creepy, crawling critters into moms life. Never had Dad seen a person move in the opposite direction as fast as mom did! Dad dragged this city girl, home-body camping on many occasions. However, she soon realized it was fun traveling with good friends and having a fully-equipped trailer to live in! They were having the time of their lives traveling California and listening along the way to his favorite Country Singer, Kenny Rogers. The Church of the Nazarene welcomed Quincy and Anna on January 17, 1997. The couple involved themselves in their church family and community services feeding and clothing the needy. Church family members called them “Mom” and “Dad” there were no boundaries only love for their fellow man and woman! Quincy was a member of the Gideon's International, distributing copies of the Bible in Butte County. Along the way he often shared, “a little fatherly advice.” Making a multitude of friends with his big hugs and smiles, my aunt Vera commented, “He should run for Mayor everyone knows and loves him!” In fact, members of The Church of the Nazarene, would line up to get a big hug as dad greeted everyone the same loving way. God, family and friends were the most important to him. As my father lives on in memory, I hope his example rubbed off and inspires all who were blessed to know this wonderful human being! By: Derek Sampson My dad was not perfect but he was the perfect dad for me. To give the highest honor to a great man who always showed us what the epitome of what a father should be. He will be missed and never forgotten….
