Obituary of Patricia Ray Byers

A graveside service will be held Thursday February 22, 2018 at 10:00 am at Gridley Biggs Cemetery for Patricia Ray McMullen Byers, 76 of Biggs. She passed away on Sunday February 11, 2018 in Biggs. She was born June 30, 1941 in Calistoga, California, one of five children born to William and Annie McMullen.

Pat was a longtime area resident who was very patriotic and community oriented. She, along with her husband Al were entrepreneurs, having owned and operated many different businesses together. She was a very devoted mother, grandma and was nurturing to many in the community and to her beloved dogs Coco and Midget. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary having served 10 consecutive years as President, she also served as the District Senior Vice President. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and was a member of the LDS Church, Gridley First Ward.

She was preceded in death by her husband Al Byers, two sisters’ Joyce Evans and Carol Bond Stimpson.

She is survived by her three sons; Robert Byers of Fort Bragg, CA, Allen (Ethel) Byers of Biggs, CA, Daniel (Shellie) Byers of Rapid City, SD, two daughters; Lynne (Brad) Spencer of Gridley, CA, Barbara (Robert) Escovedo of Yuba City, CA, one brother; James (Margaret) McMullen of Antioch, NY, one sister Billie Jean (Chris) Hansford of Alberton, GA, 8 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and best friend Judy Scott of Gridley, CA.

The family suggests contributions to the VFW Auxiliary. Arrangements entrusted to Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel.
